What Google & DELAVO have in common?
Eventually, the short message I wanted to post here ended up at 8 pages and approximately 2,500 words… Be sure to read this post over and over again in the future – an even better idea is to print it. It discusses perhaps the best marketing secret on the Planet…
For the legalities: Google, Gmail, AdSense, AdWords, etc. are trademarks of the Google company, we are not associated with Google, but do admire the brains of the people there.
I remind you that BEFORE the official free opening of Gmail, Google’s brains did not have any registration link online… Only users of Gmail could invite other users… There had been people in the forums asking for a Gmail account… to be invited by somebody… Marketers were giving away Gmail accounts…
It’s pretty easy to understand the “WHY” behind that strategy. For me, the answer is in the word: COMMUNITY. Google preferred to create their Gmail Community of strong believers in the first place. Those believers would then become Google’s “ambassadors” in the online world. Google was gaining ground over their competitors by just having people all over the world talking about the company… trying to find ways to grasp a free Gmail account.
It worked.
By the time Gmail opened its doors, millions of users were ready to sign up.
The first target was hit with success.
When I started using Gmail, I then caught myself wondering about the following.
Since Gmail almost killed their competitors with the free 7GB they offer with their Gmail accounts, why should they give accounts for free?
The answer is logical again: the more people use Gmail, the more people can see the ADS inside… published by AdSense… the more sales they would send to AdWords advertisers… the more money would return from the advertisers back to Google through AdWords… This is not counting the money that is sent to AdWords advertisers and again back to Google through the broadcasting of AdSense ads on websites…
That’s why Google created Gmail.
TIP: BTW… have you noticed that the ads displayed in each email message you open are TARGETED to the content of the email message??? I am sure you have. But did you try to “find” answers by sending a message to yourself with keywords related to the question you have?? If you have not tested this, you will be surprised by Google’s help.:)
OK… so far, everything makes sense.
That simple logic is just the surface though.
Did you notice that Microsoft (again: respected trademark in use here) is following Google’s practice, and thus, creating an Office (again a trademark we respect) package that can be accessible online? Did you notice that many other companies follow that trend of offering SSASs? (Software Solutions As Services – I hope I’m saying that right…)
And why is that happening?
Google is the answer again. Once the other companies realized the deep marketing plan used by Google, I want to believe they applauded Google.
You see…
The money coming from AdWords, the money making loop between AdWords and AdSense, etc… is just a logical conclusion; everybody could see that. In fact, I believe that Google acted like a magician there…
They made all other companies look at Gmail, thus focusing on the logical conclusion while they kept working their deep plans with their other hand…

But before mentioning it….
Did you notice that while time organizers, post-it notes, desktop calendars, and other useful productivity tools exist online, we (marketers and all other online business wo/men) do NOT use them because we got USED TO opening our email – Gmail, in most cases, and WORK with what LABS offers inside…
(Hint for what is coming…)
Some examples:
Why should one use Post-it (another trademark we respect) notes on the desktop, and thus, add weight to the OS (operational platform – aka. Windows – the famous trademark too) when Gmail offers the “Tasks” facility…
Why should one use any other messengers when Gmail integrated GTalk anyway?
Why should one use a contact organizer when Gmail offers that too INSIDE itself?
Furthermore…
Why should one, and especially those that manage online teams, create documents on his/her computer instead of creating a Google document that can be shared by the co-writers, etc., and MOST IMPORTANTLY, that can be accessible through the TOOL used on a daily basis, Gmail?
Think about that a bit and you’ll find many similar examples to recall.
And yes, I do believe you’re now ready to read the most important marketing plan used by Google, easily unforeseen by many, and a tremendous example for clever minds to follow.
What was the “evil” (or divine, if you prefer) target the people of Google had in their minds when releasing Gmail???
We said that money is just the result… the quantity of users again is a result; both are logical conclusions offered on a plate to everybody.
The truth is that I am not sure whether I am right or not.
But I believe that I am right.
The real secret related to Google’s superior strategy to dominating the Net is the fact that they used Gmail as their VIRAL (marketing) vehicle while having structured Gmail as a…
…SHELL…
That’s the secret, and it’s not as simple as you may be thinking.
Think about the word: Shell.
Gmail is a Shell.
The target was to make everybody use Gmail as his/her STARTING PAGE when logging onto the Net…
The ONLY way to do that would be to use the “Shell Programming’s Architecture” in such a way that users WOULD NOT HAVE TO LEAVE or CLOSE the Gmail window!
Reread the sentence above and think about Casinos…
Casinos offer free drinks, free food, free accommodations to good players… in fact, there are managers whose job is to satisfy any crazy idea of the “whales” (as they call the big pockets…), and they do all this because they DO NOT WANT TO HAVE CUSTOMERS LEAVING THE CASINO for any reason… Thus, they must be able to operate all of their resources in such a way so as to satisfy the shell functionality:
Once you get in, there should be no reason for getting out.
(Imagine how one can easily reconsider going back into the Casino if he leaves it and has the fresh breeze awaken his brain….)
Thus, customers MUST STAY IN.
That’s the Shell Policy.
That’s what I call DELAVERIANIZATION…. which is the use of Centralization to its maximum limits.
Google has Gmail.
We have DELAVO (another respected trademark…)
Now see the similarities and how everything fits:
Why should one use an extra OTO script when the OTO Plug-in can serve the DELAVO administrator (aka. marketer), and thus, can implement the OTO strategy without closing DELAVO’s window…
Makes sense, right?
Again, the examples are endless here for DELAVO…
Why should one risk playing with solutions that offer a sales and affiliates’ functionality instead of using 1 platform for managing ALL sales, managing ALL affiliate programs, and thus, keeping DELAVO’s window open…
The same idea applies with membership sites: Why should one think about using any other solution when DELAVO can manage and automate everything needed for membership sites that is created on any server online… and thus, keep DELAVO’s window open…
See the Plug-ins offered by the F.1.18 Package…
Each one adds an additional functionality that takes away ANY and ALL reason for the marketer to USE ANY OTHER software, script, or platform, and thus, enables the marketer to work the way s/he wants by keeping DELAVO’s window open…
The same idea applies with coupons… it’d be a waste of time and a waste of the centralization’s essence to use DELAVO and to also use an extra script for offering coupons… Do you know why? Because EVERY action of the marketer should be in harmony with his/her existing business resources… and harmonically integrated to the main sales and affiliate management systems, which constitute the core to any and all eCommerce platforms…
Pay attention please because it’s easy to be misled…
Here is an example:
A friend of mine created and offered a platform related to the creation of content… a kind of a “shell” that would create content-rich sites, and thus, monetize on the traffic brought in by the search engines…
I warned him to provide a “bridge” to DELAVO instead of adding an eCommerce functionality to his platform.
He did not listen. That was bad. Here is why:
People understand today that they cannot be rich by the clicks sent through AdSense.
A successful campaign in AdWords can indeed bring COMMISSIONS if the marketer attracts traffic from search engines and from all other means of Web 2.0, as well as by just mainly creating and maintaining a network of content-rich websites. Thus, content attracts search engines, search engines feed search results with the URLs of the similar content-rich sites, free traffic, or even targeted traffic through AdWords, and the owner/marketer is getting paid by the clicks (from AdSense and similar PPC systems) and by the commissions generated by his/her affiliate links for the PRODUCTS promoted INSIDE the content network.
So far, so good.
However…. People have realized today that affiliate marketing is and will remain as ONE of the best marketing paths; thus, a lazy marketer can just use PLR content to feed his/her sites, automate things, and prosper through the commissions. As has been said, it’s ONE of the best marketing paths. It is NOT THE BEST PATH.
People have noticed today that while Gurus and their teams/advocates sometimes propagate the spread of the “directed truth” toward affiliate marketing by using affiliate marketing themselves, on the other hand, they DO NOT UNDERLINE the VITAL CRITERION of the online success, which is PRODUCT CREATION… what ALL super-duper marketers DO.
And since the KEY to riches IS the Product Creation, then we are looping to what has already been discussed:
On dealing with Product Creation, the wise marketer cannot neglect the strategic importance of the Shell-Logic. If Google and many other fortune companies APPLY the logic of centralization to what they create, then using an online platform that is NOT the best SHELL offered today on the Net is equivalent to online business suicide.
I am not repeating that DELAVO IS that shell because it happens to be my mental creation…. I am just repeating this from what I know (and please CORRECT ME if I am wrong) that there is NO other eCommerce platform that represents the PERFECT SHELL as DELAVO does. And even if one dares to think of another system, there is NO other SHELL/platform that ALLOWS the marketer to SELL the access to DELAVO’s built-in money making functionality to customers through hosted accounts…. (see Roles Plug-in).
Why should one use tens of different scripts when s/he can CENTRALIZE everything through one roof, and thus, work without closing DELAVO’s window at all???
Can you find any reason?
There is no reason.
Or, actually, there is one reason indeed: Lazy and “wanna-be-rich” people are the best customers of the marketers who don’t advocate DELAVO.
It’s easier to sell ten software applications to that target group, and thus, to make money by selling easiness and hope for a future that won’t come because of the de-centralization of efforts that lead to frustration and to making people quit after they have spent their money…. instead of directing people to “the University of Money Making On The Net” – where EFFORT is needed and Knowledge needs to be gained in order for one to “graduate” and to apply marketing in a scientific way…
Let’s tie everything together now.
Google’s main concern, as well as the Casinos’ main concern, as well as the Malls’ main concern, as well as the resorts’ main concern, etc… is to:
KEEP CUSTOMERS INSIDE.
I hope this has been analyzed thoroughly so that there is no need for further analysis.
For making that possible (KCI – Keep Customer Inside), a specific approach should be followed that has the “locale” element built in…
How can we keep a customer INSIDE?
By offering everything the customer wants INSIDE our….
…SHELL.
Where the shell is any successful platform to which FACILITIES can be PLUGGED IN.
I hope that that has also been analyzed thoroughly so there is no need for further analysis.
This is why DELAVO IS for eCommerce what Windows has been for computer users… and as has been previously said, the mother of Windows will provide SSASs in the future, and that’s how you will see “Shell-like” online solutions being offered that do not spend computers’ resources and can do the job from anywhere…

P.S. Did you notice that I stressed many times the phrase, “while keeping DELAVO’s window open?” There has been a reason for doing this, of course. Visualize the following scenario: You use DELAVO and keep its window open… your hosted accounts’ customers do the same… The same thing is happening to other DELAVO systems… the administrator, the customers of the hosted accounts, their customers, the customers of their customers too…. etc… KEEP WORKING with DELAVO’s window never closing…. HOW GREAT would it be if YOU could BROADCAST your messages to ALL of the people of that network of DELAVO systems…. How great would it be if YOU, as a DELAVO owner, could SELL advertizing space for monetizing that way and in the way mentioned, the broadcasting of the messages of other DELAVO owners to your first screen of DELAVO??? And HOW GREAT would it be if YOU could broadcast NOT to just 1 DELAVO system, but to 1000s of DELAVO systems and to all the open windows of DELAVO of all the users of the DELAVO network….
That would be great indeed… right?
